Audio-Technica mics dominate the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony

Audio-Technica was the major label providing microphones for the internationally televised VH1 broadcast of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony March 14 in Manhattan Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

“When you only have one shot to capture an artist performance, there is no room for error, which is why I use Audio-Technica,” says lead engineer John Harris. “Their microphones deliver flawless performances show after show.”

The technical staff for the induction ceremony read like a Who of professional audio. Audio Coordinator Mitch Maketansky organized and assigned all the inputs and microphones for the event. Grammy® Award winner John Harris was Lead Engineer for recording specialists Effanel Music, the remote recording company that both recorded the program and mixed the broadcast, while Jay Vicari was the Mix Engineer.

Why choose A-T? John Harris elaborates: “I ve been using the 5000 Series wireless for the past few years, and they continue to provide clean, consistent high-quality audio as well as being super dependable, hence I have higher confidence level with A-T than other systems. In addition, A-T unparalleled level of company support is second to none, which ultimately lets me concentrate on mixing rather than having to worry about the equipment.”

The 20th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony honored new inductees, The O Jays, the Pretenders, Percy Sledge, Buddy Guy and U2.

Audio-Technica Artist Elite® 5000 Series UHF Wireless System was used during the induction ceremony for frontline vocals by The O Jays, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Percy Sledge, Bo Diddley, B.B. King, Jerry Lee Lewis and Paul Shaffer. A-T hardwired microphones were also used, including the AE2500 on bass guitar amps, AE5100 on hi-hat, ATM35 on horns and AT4050 for overheads and guitar amps.
