September 25, 2024 – Audio-Technica today announced the launch of the AT-LP8X, a semi-automatic direct-drive turntable that combines the convenience of modern technology with the classic style of iconic A-T models.
The AT-LP8X features a newly designed tonearm lift that automatically raises the tonearm at the end of a record side and stops the motor.
Its J-shaped aluminum tonearm, reminiscent of classic A-T designs from the 1960s and ’70s, comes equipped with a newly designed AT-LT10 headshell and AT-VM95E BK (black) cartridge with a 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus. This combination delivers exceptional channel separation and low distortion, resulting in outstanding tonal quality.
The AT-LP8X boasts a versatile design that accommodates a diverse range of record collections. It plays 33-1/3, 45, and 78 RPM records, ensuring compatibility with classic and modern vinyl formats. For optimal 78 RPM playback, users will need the dedicated AT-VMN95SP stylus.
For those seeking even greater sonic refinement, the stylus can be easily interchanged with any stylus from the Audio-Technica VM95 line.
The turntable features a high-quality tonearm with VTA (vertical tracking angle) adjustment and a subcounterweight. This advanced design ensures optimal compatibility with a wide array of cartridges, allowing users to customize their sound preferences.
Its 25 mm rubber-damped, anti-resonance, die-cast aluminum platter, paired with a 2.5 mm rubber mat, is driven by a sensor-monitored motor that ensures continuously accurate platter rotation speed. The motor and its efficient internal switching power supply are housed within a box plinth constructed of 16 mm MDF (medium density fiberboard). The plinth features height-adjustable feet for optimal protection against unwanted noise and vibration.
The AT-LP8X comes with a detachable RCA output cable (dual RCA male to dual RCA male with ground), a 45 RPM adapter, and a removable hinged dust cover.
The AT-LP8X is now available for purchase at authorized Audio-Technica dealers.
