Audio-Technica Launches the Limited-Edition ATH-WP900SE Portable Wooden Headphones Featuring a Three-Tone Sunburst Finish Inspired by the Soul of the Guitar.

Audio-Technica has introduced the limited-edition ATH-WP900SE portable wooden headphones. Inspired by the iconic 3-tone sunburst finish found on electric guitars, the ATH-WP900SE features solid ash wood housings, custom acoustic tuning, and newly designed drivers. Its sound is voiced to highlight clear note definition and layered sustain for stringed instruments, bringing out subtle rhythmic detail. Equipped with 53 mm drivers, the ATH-WP900SE keeps a lightweight build and a fold-flat design for easy everyday portability.

Developed with input from musicians and instrument craftsmanship, the ATH-WP900SE pairs refined industrial design with Audio-Technica’s acoustic engineering to deliver a cohesive listening experience.

Solid Ash Wood Housings: Tuning Guided by the Acoustic Characteristics of Wood
Since first introducing wooden headphones in 1996 with the ATH-W10VTG, Audio-Technica has been analyzing various types of wood for use in headphones. The wood chosen for these headphones offers a beautiful grain finish and superior acoustic characteristics for a clear sound field with rich, warm tones. ATH-WP900SE portable headphones combine new acoustic technology with the time-tested qualities of wooden models.

Three-Tone Sunburst Lacquer Finish: Hand-Finished with Fujigen
The ATH-WP900SE features a three-tone sunburst lacquer finish inspired by classic electric-guitar designs. The finishing process involves Fujigen, a renowned Japanese guitar manufacturer, to bring out the depth of the wood grain and gloss under different lighting while providing durability for everyday use. This marks the first time Audio-Technica has applied guitar-inspired lacquer craftsmanship to a headphone product.

53 mm Drivers: Tuned for Electric-Guitar Tone
The ATH-WP900SE is equipped with newly designed 53 mm drivers and an optimized acoustic structure tuned to reproduce the character of stringed instruments. A newly designed voice coil improves linearity for detailed sound across the full frequency range. Balanced rear venting helps reduce unwanted resonance, while optimized acoustic duct shaping supports tighter low-frequency response and clearer sustain.

Wearing Comfort: Soft Synthetic Leather
The headband and earpads use smooth synthetic leather with three-dimensional stitching for a secure, comfortable fit. Both the headband and earpads use slow-rebound cushioning to help reduce pressure and fatigue during extended listening sessions.

A2DC Connectors: High-Quality Signal Transmission
The ATH-WP900SE uses A2DC* connectors for a secure fit and reliable contact. The A2DC connector design minimizes signal loss and noise while improving connection stability, helping maintain consistent sound quality during everyday use.
*A2DC:Audio Designed Detachable Coaxial

Includes a dual-ended 1.2 m (3.9′) balanced cable (4.4 mm (0.17″) 5-pole plug) and a 1.2 m (3.9′) cable (3.5 mm (1/8″) stereo mini-plug), designed for use with Hi-Res Audio players and balanced-connection-compatible headphone amplifiers.

Sleek and Stylish Portability
The ATH-WP900SE features swivelling earcups that lay flat for storage in the included pouch. To help keep the wooden housings looking their best, it also includes a Fujigen-made cleaning cloth designed for lacquer finishes.
